2012 NHL Playoffs Betting Odds For April 12th, 2012

April 12th, 2012 | Author: John

It didn’t look good for the home teams during Wednesday night’s opener of the NHL Playoffs. The Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks, darlings of Bovada’s NHL Futures Betting Odds, both flopped in Game One.

Both teams held leads in the opener before surrendering late goals.
The Boston Bruins hope to change that pattern Thursday night as they set in to defend their Stanley Cup championship. The second-seeded Bruins host the seventh-seeded Washington Capitals. It’s a strange place to see the Capitals after coming in as the top seed in the Eastern Conference in each of the last two years.

It hasn’t seemed to work out so far, so Washington might be able to surprise some people as an underdog. Alexander Ovechkin is playing well lately, and the Capitals are 3-1-0 against Boston this year.
Still, the Bruins are favored by 1 1/2 goals with a moneyline of -165, according to Bovada.

In fact, all four home teams are favored Thursday night with the New York Rangers hosting the Ottowa Senators to start the night at 7 p.m. Action continues at 7:35, when the Bruins host Washington and the St. Louis Blues host the San Jose Sharks.

The Phoenix Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks get the nightcap.

The Coyotes are out to prove oddsmakers wrong.Despite winning their division and locking up the fourth seed in the Western Conference, Phoenix is a longshot to win the Stanley Cup, according to Bovada, and aren’t even favored to beat the Chicago Blackhawks in round one.
We’ll find out soon enough.

The Coyotes are favored by 1 1/2 goals in Game One Thursday night with a 5-goal total.
