Chicago Bulls Odds Dropping After Loss To Philadelphia 76ers

May 2nd, 2012 | Author: John

The Chicago Bulls are dead.

I can say that now because no one sees my face and I’m bloggin online. No serious repercussions to what I say. Yet, even if there were, I’d still say the Bulls were dead. Everyone knew it when Derrick Rose went down with a shredded knee over the weekend, but there were some detractors because Chicago played pretty well without him during the regular season.

Rose was in and out of the lineup throughout the season and the team still got the best record and the east’s top seed.

They went 18-9 without him, and with various injuries to Luol Deng and Richard Hamilton, only played with their true starting five 15 times. That’s why Bovada’s NBA Finals Futures Odds still listed the Bulls with reasonable 9/1 odds to win the championship even after the point guard’s injury this weekend.

That’s all fine and good. But there was no shot they were going to contend with the Miami Heat in the conference finals, or reach the NBA Finals.

And watching them last night against the Sixers, it’s clear there’s plenty of work to do to even get out of the first round. Philadelphia dominated the action in a 109-92 rout Tuesday night. It outscored the Bulls 36-14 in the third period to turn a eight point defecit into a 14-point lead.

“Disappointed,” Chicago’s Joakim Noah said after the game. “Disappointing effort overall. We didn’t play well defensively. We didn’t play well offensively.”

With the Heat rolling against the New York Knicks, Chicago is sliding everyday, and now has 14/1 odds on Bovada to win the Finals. It is a 13/2 longshot to even win the conference.

But let’s be gentlemen here. They might as well be listed on Kentucky Derby Futures. Because they have about as good a shot to win that as they do the Finals.

They will still probably win the series. It’s not code red. But look somewhere else for a payday if you weren’t already.
